The Bill Phifer Winchester Model 21 shotgun collection of post-1959 Winchester Model 21 shotguns includes all gauges (.410, 28, 20, 16, 12), all grades (Custom Grade, Pigeon Grade, Grand American, Presentation Grade, Grand Royal, Standard Built Custom Grade), and all engraving patterns (21-1, 21-2, 21-3, 21-4, 21-5, Custom Grade, Pigeon Grade, Grand American).
The collection also includes a Five Gun Set of Grand Americans in all the gauges/bores (.410 - 28 - 20 - 16 - 12), a Five Gun Set of Pigeon Grades in all the gauges/bores (.410 - 28 - 20 - 16 - 12), a 20 gauge Pigeon Grade four barrel set, a Custom Grade 20 gauge three barrel set, two Custom Grade 16 gauge two barrel sets, an amazing Eight Gun .410 bore Matched Set each with one of the eight engraving patterns, a Grand American with one set of double barrels and a 16 gauge Pigeon Grade three barrel set. I also have a Three Gun Set of Grand Americans (three receivers, six barrels): .410 bore Set, 28 ga Set and .410/28 Set. I have a special Cut-Away that shows the internal components of the Model 21.
Outstanding Model 21 grades in my collection include a "GRAND ROYAL" 28 gauge set, and a "One of Eight" SMALLBORE SET - I own the number one gun of the set. Another is a truly magnificent scroll engraved "PRESENTATION GRADE" - this is one of only two Presentation Grades ever made by the Custom Shop. I also own an extremely rare "STANDARD BUILT CUSTOM GRADE" -- to my knowledge the only one ever made by the Custom Shop.
I have an unprecedented fifteen consecutive serial numbers, eight Pigeon Grades (in every gauge/bore), and twelve .410 bore Model 21s.
There are nine Alvin A. White engraved, Winchester Custom Shop commissioned, Model 21 shotguns in the collection! White is one of America's legendary firearms engravers.
All of the Winchester Model 21's in my "core" collection were ordered from Winchester by me. They were manufactured in the Winchester Custom Shop in New Haven, Connecticut.
The shotguns I ordered have never been assembled and are still in their original factory boxes. Every Model 21 in my collection has an original signed "Factory Letter of Authenticity" provided by the Winchester Custom Shop. Winchester advised me that over 50% of my collection is one-of-a-kind!
Those wanting a post-1959 Model 21 shotgun manufactured in the Custom Shop are limited to about 1,000 shotguns.
